Athletic Injuries

We see many cases of athletic injuries with concussions and you may as yourself...

So What Exactly is a Concussion?

A CONCUSSION IS A DISTURBANCE IN BRAIN FUNCTION CAUSED BY DIRECT OR INDIRECT FORCE TO THE HEAD. IT IS A FUNCTIONAL RATHER THAN STRUCTURAL INJURY THAT RESULTS FROM SHEAR  STRESS TO BRAIN TISSUE CAUSED BY ROTATIONAL OR ANGULAR FORCES—DIRECT IMPACT TO THE HEAD IS NOT REQUIRED. INITIAL EVALUATION INVOLVES ELIMINATING CERVICAL SPINE INJURY AND SERIOUS TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY.

CONCUSSIONS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS NERVE DAMAGE

At The Nerve Health Institute®, we DON’T believe that REST is the best treatment for concussions.  Concussions result in dysfunction of nerves.  Symptoms vary with concussions because different nerves are damaged in each individual.  First, we diagnose the particular nerves that were damaged in each concussion. Then, we use revolutionary, non-invasive, neurological rehabilitation techniques to strengthen these nerves back to normal function. Our rehabilitation culminates in a much FASTER recovery time and return to activity.

CHILDREN ARE AT HIGH RISK FOR SPORTS RELATED CONCUSSIONS

This graph shows that SRC (sports related concussions) have increased over 200% in kids 14U19 and almost 100% in people from 8U23 from 1997 to 2007.  All the while,  participation in the top 5 OTS (organized team sports) has declined by roughly 10%.6

Brain Shock: More Than Just a Head Injury

Mental/Emotional health and physical performance is directly related to brain and nerve health

BrainShock™ Syndrome describes the effects of injury as causing a short circuit anywhere in the body. This can result in pain, loss of sensation, loss of physical and or mental performance. Our mission is to create awareness and provide restorative solutions that overcome these short circuits and allow each person to work hard, play hard and achieve their personal best.
